Krissy Bohan

Medium: Mixed Media

Get In Touch

Kristina Bohan is a mixed media artist who has recently started working with nontraditional canvases. Of this experimentation, the artist states, “I like the dimension and texture they give a painting.” Kristina utilizes a bright color palette – particularly avoiding the use of black and white. While the subjects of her paintings are composed of cool colors, her backgrounds remain warm – allowing the artist to achieve necessary contrast and create adequate negative space. Concerning her subject matter, Kristina chooses to focus primarily on nature and wildlife. She is particularly interested in owls and their unique personality and perspective on life. When asked why she is so fascinated by owls, Kristina replied, “I have always been fascinated with the woods and owls are the creatures who get to see it from above.” This year, Kristina is looking forward to presenting her work to a wider audience through participation in gallery shows and exhibits.

Don Forrest

Medium: Photography

Get In Touch

Don Forrest lives in Elmwood with his wife Michelle, and is the proud father of two, grown daughters. Born and raised in Yates City, IL, later in college he studied first geography specializing in GIS technology in its earliest days. In graduate school, he studied American history, specifically US Constitutional history. For over two decades, he has served as Business Development Manager at Farnsworth Group, a full service engineering and architecture firm located in Peoria’s Warehouse District. He has also been actively involved in with many community organizations throughout the area including the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, the Elmwood Community Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Workforce Development, the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, and a number of others.

As a lifelong musician, playing with a camera was an comfortable artistic transition. Not unlike blues music, he finds photography improvisational, spontaneous, and lucky. Little is planned, and photographic opportunities tend to just present themselves. No deep messages, and no intent. Just happy coincidence that something interesting happens to catch his eye . . . and ends up in front of camera.

And he’s addicted to golf.

Misty Long

Get In Touch

Misty Long is a multi-media artist residing in Peoria, Illinois.  She is the Studio Manager at J Draper Glass LLC, where she assists, instructs classes, performs demonstrations, and narrates.  Misty received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Glass from Illinois State University in 2013.  She discovered glass as an elective during her studies and since then glass has been a major material in the creation of her works.

Misty’s current work tries to create a “full circle” of happiness, meaning that what she creates brings her happiness and the audience happiness.  She uses tongue-in-cheek humor, imagination, curiosity, and whimsy as vehicles of expression for her happiness quest.  She hopes that the big take away for the audience after viewing her work is an overall feeling of happiness.  Another element that is fundamental to Misty’s work is the desire to create work that pushes against the traditional ideas of fine art.  To accomplish this, she uses vending machines and faux kiosks as structures to not only present her work but also to sell as an entire piece.

Through all of her work, Misty has the desire to focus on the happy, the positive, the humor, rather than dwell on the dark, the sad, and the bad there is in our world.  She hopes that after viewing her work others can see this too.

A native of the very small town of Russia, Ohio, Chloe’s time growing up was spent climbing trees, nursing lost kittens and sketching outdoors. She was imbued with a love of observing nature during her childhood on a farm – keeping her awake to the finer intricacies of the landscape and flora around her. In a home where her family was constantly shifting, taking on and losing new members, she also became inspired by the human experience early on in her life, fueling a deep passion for figurative art.

In 2014, Chloe received her BFA from the University of Dayton, concentrating on painting and printmaking. During her stay there she was awarded a Yeck College Artist Fellowship at the Dayton Arts Institute and was named a student scholar for the Dayton Printmaker’s Cooperative. Her senior year, Chloe ranked as a finalist in the Excellence in Visual Arts Awards by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio.

In 2015, Chloe moved to Peoria and became a resident artist at the Prairie Center of the Arts, enjoying a year of painting, printmaking, volunteering, and teaching. Soon after, she was awarded a residency at Access Arts in Columbia, Missouri. Chloe has exhibited art across the country, with shows in California, New England, and across the Midwest.
