Sky Art Peoria Announces 2025 Winning Artists, Including Student Division and Civic Center Selections
PEORIA, IL – ArtsPartners is pleased to announce ten winning works and artists selected for the 2025 Sky Art Peoria program. Sky Art Peoria is an initiative of ArtsPartners of Central Illinois and is made possible in partnership with Adams Outdoor Advertising. The program displays and promotes art from talented local artists who submit their artwork for review.
“This year marks the tenth anniversary of Sky Art Peoria,” said Dr. Mae Gilliland Wright, Executive Director of ArtsPartners. “When I chaired the very first program in 2015, we started with just five billboards. This year, we’re proudly featuring ten installations — including eight 48’ x 14’ billboards, our largest number ever, and two large-scale vinyl wraps through a new collaboration with the Peoria Civic Center. I can’t wait to see what the next ten years bring. We are so grateful to Adams Outdoor Peoria for their continued collaboration and support.”
The Sky Art Peoria jury, which included distinguished arts, business, and community leaders, scored the artwork according to artistic and technical merits, as well as visual appeal. In the adult division, the jury chose six winning artists. This year’s adult division winners include:
Rosemarie Adcock, The Feeding of the 5000
Connie Andrews, A Simple Gift
Jordan Delgadillo, Hang On
Preston Jackson, Various Bronze Sculptures
Lori Luthy, String of Pears
Leslie Schenkel, Three Voices
Two local students under the age of 18 were also selected as part of the Sky Art Peoria student division. This year’s jury selected student winners include:
Allesandra Carmona, Sunday
Sameera Joshi, Face to Face
Additionally, one adult artist and one student artist were selected to have their artwork transformed into vinyl wraps displayed on the brick walls of the Skylight Lobby as part of a collaboration with the Peoria Civic Center. The selected artists are:
Jaton Sales (adult artist), Reflected in Youth
Jack Couri (student artist), Jungle Dusk
Regarding the art selected this year, Sky Art Peoria committee chair Everley Davis stated,
“Nationally recognized artists like Preston Jackson alongside locally celebrated artists demonstrate the high level of creativity and expression in our region. Dynamic student submissions from second generation artists like Allessandra Carmona and Jack Couri show promise that our arts community will continue to be nurtured and thrive.”
Winning billboard selections will be reproduced on 48’ x 14’ vinyls that will then be rotated on eight Adams Outdoor Billboards for one year in various locations throughout Greater Peoria. Sky Art Peoria billboards will be installed this summer.
The Peoria Civic Center’s involvement underscores a shared commitment to celebrating local artists in public spaces. Beau Sutherland, Marketing Director for the Peoria Civic Center, remarked:
“We are thrilled to display two incredible pieces of artwork from this year’s submissions and the continued success of the Sky Art program. We look forward to unveiling these pieces soon and adding to the collection of artwork on display at the venue.”
Program sponsors include: The Fine Arts Society of Peoria Victoria High Point Holdings; Miller, Hall & Triggs LLC and Joshua D. Herman; General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport; RLI; O’Shea Builders. Sky Art Peoria is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. PIP Printing is sponsoring the vinyl wraps in the Peoria Civic Center’s Skylight Lobby.
