Celebration Continues of the Transformation of the Peoria Warehouse District

PEORIA, IL- January, 26, 2016- On January 22, 2016, the Sculpture Walk Peoria call for entries closed with a final count of 250 entries from 71 different artists which came from 24 states and 4 from outside the United States. Thanks to the generous support of local individuals and organizations, Sculpture Walk Peoria will continue to assist in the transformation of the Peoria Warehouse District in 2016. The following distinguished arts, business, and community leaders will select the winning sculptures for the 2016 outdoor exhibition:


William Butler – Artist; Executive Director, Contemporary Art Center of Peoria
Andrew Driscoll – Owner of ADJD Management LLC; Owner of Central Illinois Dueling Pianos; Producing Artistic Director/Owner of the Peoria Cabaret Theatre
Duffy Armstrong Farrell – Artist, Board member of Arts Alliance Illinois, Former director of the Peoria Art Guild, Former Curator of Education and Public Relations Director of Lakeview Museum
Sam Gappmayer – President and CEO, Peoria Riverfront Museum; 35-year career primarily in art museums; has juried exhibits of regional and national significance
Preston Jackson – Sculptor; Professor of Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; several public sculptures in Peoria, including Richard Pryor – More Than Just a Comedian and For Mothers with Sons, both located on Washington Street
Beth Jensen – Peoria City Council
David Koehler – Illinois State Senator
Katie McCord-Jenkins – President of Illinois Mutual
Barry Tinsley – Sculptor; former Associate Professor of Art at Illinois State University; has two public sculptures in the Peoria Riverfront Museum sculpture garden: Peoria Portal and Delos
Eric Turner – Peoria City Council


Every effort was made to develop a jury with a broad and diverse background. 4 of the jurors also helped in the selection in 2015. All individuals have been enthusiastic about becoming part of the 2016 Sculpture Walk Peoria jury, having expressed a personal interest and passion for public art and sculpture.
