El Mirador en el Rio Launches Rotating Art Installation with ArtsPartners

Quarterly art program debuts at El Mirador en el Rio

PEORIA, IL — July 14, 2025. ArtsPartners of Central Illinois is proud to announce a new rotating art installation series in collaboration with El Mirador en el Rio, the highly anticipated Latin American bistro that opened July 4 in downtown Peoria’s Powell Press Building (110 NE Water Street).

This initiative transforms the bistro’s interior into an ongoing exhibition space for local visual artists, selected through an open call managed by ArtsPartners. The installations will rotate quarterly, offering diners a dynamic experience that blends culinary and creative excellence. Dr. Mae Gilliland Wright of ArtsParnters of Central Illinois notes:

“We are always looking for meaningful ways to uplift local artists while strengthening our region’s creative economy. This partnership with El Mirador en el Rio is a perfect example of how businesses and artists can come together to create something vibrant, accessible, and community-driven. When we bring artwork into everyday spaces, it gives new audiences, including visitors to Peoria, a chance to experience the incredible talent we have here.”

The opening celebration will take place in August 2025, offering the public a first look at the featured art alongside a preview of the bistro’s vibrant Latin American menu. El Mirador en el Rio is co-owned by Raam Adi, a project developer; Genesis Adi, a realtor; and Julia Salvatierra, who also owns Hacienda el Mirador in Junction City. Raam Adi and Julia Salvatierra share:

“At El Mirador en el Río, we’re not just serving coffee and bites — we’re creating a space where people can slow down, connect, and savor the beauty of Peoria’s riverfront. Our menu blends Latin-inspired dishes with locally loved flavors, paired perfectly with handcrafted cocktails and premium coffee from around the world. Every detail reflects our passion for culture, community, and quality.”

The rotating art model builds on successful regional examples and supports Peoria’s growing creative economy. This initiative aligns with ArtsPartners’ mission to build awareness and strengthen the arts sector through collaboration, promotion, and strategic support — creating new opportunities for local artists to share their work with the public in unexpected and welcoming spaces.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by El Mirador en el Rio during business hours to enjoy both the art and the cuisine. Artist calls and details will be posted at artspartners.net.
