The Big Picture Peoria Street Festival is seeking artists, makers, and creative organizers to lead interactive art activities for the public during this year’s festival. We are partnering with Choose Greater Peoria’s Go Day again this year for a great day of free, family friendly art and fun.

We’re looking for artists to offer hands-on experiences that invite participation from kids, families, teens, and adults — activities that spark creativity, connection, and fun in the middle of downtown Peoria.

Past activities have included:

  • Painting flower pots
  • Carving rubber stamps
  • Decorating angel wings for children
  • Making decorative buttons
  • Sewing “frankenstein” stuffies
  • Making sun catchers from CDs

We welcome new ideas that are engaging, approachable, colorful, inventive, and interactive.

Artist Responsibilities

Selected artists will:

  • Design and lead an interactive art activity during the festival
  • Provide all materials and supplies
  • Prepare enough supplies for approximately 200 participants
  • Engage festival-goers in a welcoming and creative way throughout the event

Artist Stipend
Selected artists will receive a $300 stipend, which includes compensation for materials and supplies.

Important Festival Guidelines
Please keep in mind:

  • Activities must be suitable for an outdoor street festival environment
  • No glitter or materials that can easily blow away or litter the street
  • Access to electricity will be limited
  • Running water will not be readily available on-site
  • Projects should be easy to maintain and safe for a busy public setting

What We’re Looking For
We especially love projects that are:

  • Interactive and hands-on
  • Accessible to a wide range of ages and abilities
  • Visually exciting in a street festival setting
  • Easy to jump into without prior experience
  • Community-centered and joyful

EMILY CRANK

Hello, my name is Emily Crank and I am a student at Bradley University. I am currently working towards the goal of double majoring in Art History and History with a minor in Museum studies and Women and Gender studies. My plan is to pursue local history and Gallery exhibition work with a community focus when I graduate. I love art and working on projects that explore the history of the Peoria area, and I am very excited to be working with Arts Partners towards these goals. I look forward to serving the community and furthering the reach of Arts Partners throughout the summer.

JOSE BECERRA
