“The Citywide Celebration of Women in the Arts was an opportunity for Black Dog Metal Arts to accomplish a goal that we thought would be 5-10 years away – organizing the first iron pour run by FEmale identified artists in Peoria, IL history – hosting female-identified metal casting artists from all across the United States. The Citywide Celebration allowed us to learn about what other women in the arts community are doing, where to find them, and how to support them. It also gave the community a chance to see in person what we do at Black Dog Metal Arts. We hope to instill admiration for and understanding of metal art in the community, but we also seek to empower and grow our community by offering opportunities to the public to do something that may seem hard, intimidating, or unapproachable.”
