It’s the tail end of the big bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at THE BOURBON ROOM, one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues. Sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage as groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, an aspiring rock star longs to become the next big thing (and for the small-town girl with stars in her eyes). But the rock and roll fairy-tale is about to end when developers sweep in to turn the fabled Strip into another capitalist strip mall. Can they save the strip–and themselves–before it’s too late? Rock of Ages takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos and even bigger hair!
The hit musical ROCK OF AGES will rattle the walls at Peoria Players! The show features the music of 80s rockers Pat Benatar, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Twisted Sister, Night Ranger, Journey and so many more!
From Director Chip Joyce: “ROCK OF AGES is the unlikely pairing of 80s glam metal with musical theatre. But is it so unlikely? After all, glam metal is nothing if not theatrical, full of needy, insecure, crazy people… and theatre is nothing if not full of them too! It took a village to build this city on rock and roll, a village in which I was proud to call myself mayor. A village that features the best musicians I know, the most dedicated crew we could assemble, the most incredible singers belting their faces off backstage, and the most talented actors/singers/dancers we could find, many of whom were new to us at auditions and are making their first appearance on the Peoria Players stage! I’ve been lucky to direct nearly all the musicals I truly love over the past decade. It’s nice to have something I can just have fun with, continue to make sure the company has fun, and hope the audience does as well.”
