A New Year’s Eve tradition returns to Peoria Players Theatre! A Ring-A-Ding-Ding New Year is back to delight audiences with the music of Frank Sinatra and other classics made famous by “Old Blue Eyes.” This musical revue features exceptional vocalists who will perform over twenty numbers that will captivate audiences.
A Ring-A-Ding-Ding New Year – the title is named in honor of Frank’s 1961 album – originated at Peoria Players on New Year’s Eve in 2010 and was repeated in 2011, 2012 and again last year as part of Peoria Players’ 100th season. Bruce Colligan and Nicki Haschke are once again co-directing the event this year. “We resurrected it last year, as we thought it would make a nice addition to Peoria Players’ 100th season, and the show nearly sold out,” Haschke states. “The performances received so many nice compliments, and we are excited to present another round of entertainment this year.”
Colligan says, “This New Year’s Eve at Peoria Players, you will have an opportunity to sit back and enjoy grand songs from the Great American Songbook and learn the back story of these timeless pieces sung by some of the area’s finest performers.” Bill Murphy returns as the emcee and also performs with the ensemble. Murphy is the renowned historian of the group, introducing each song with interesting facts and stories. The vocalists include David Brown, Megan Cipolla, Bruce Colligan, Rachel Kocher, Tyler Smith and Mary Rose Williams. Song selections include classics such as “Mack the Knife,” “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “My Foolish Heart,” “Pennies from Heaven” and so many more. It’s a production the entire family can enjoy.
The evening will also include a complimentary hors d’oeuvres buffet by Simply Elegant Events. The show will begin at 7:30 pm on New Year’s Eve, with the buffet at intermission. Tickets are $25 per person and are available by calling 309-688-4473.
