Spanning the 1860s to the present, this lecture addresses the role of late 19th- and early 20th-century photographers in shaping our expectations for how the parks are depicted, and how photographs were disseminated to the public through stereographs and postcards. The lecture will also highlight contemporary photographers whose work draws upon and subverts the history of images made within these natural landscapes.

Presented by Jamie M. Allen, Stephen B. and Janice G. Ashley Associate Curator in the Department of Photography at George Eastman Museum.

Thursday, December 10 at 10:00am, Live via Zoom with Q&A
