Peoria, IL – June 20, 2022 – Get ready to be knocked out of your blue suede shoes with this Elvis jukebox musical “All Shook Up” opening June 24th at Corn Stock Theatre. The second show appearing at the tent this summer tells the story, loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”, about romance, mistaken identity, and rock’n’roll. It includes such Elvis’ hits as “Jailhouse Rock”, “Love Me Tender”, and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
Selah Schertz stars as Natalie Haller, a girl from a small town that dreams of hitting the open road. Selah last appeared in 2018’s “Newsies”. She says “Natalie is such a strong independent woman – she’s also super awkward and quirky, she’s so much fun to play! My favorite part of the show is the moment she sees Chad and instantly falls in love with him, that’s when I sing “One Night With You!”
Wesley Hunt stars as Chad, the Elvis inspired, motorcycling roustabout, who’s appearance shakes up the town. Wesley, who hasn’t appeared in a Corn Stock show since “Les Misérables” in 2010, says playing Chad has been a fun challenge for him. “He’s considerably different than who I am as a person, so it’s been fun to dive into some different personality traits. Anytime I get to wear a leather jacket is a win!”
Other notable actors are Chris Ennis as Jim Haller, Madison Boedecker as Sylvia, Natalie Bashusen as Lorraine, Alex Hunt as Dennis, Simmy Wood as Miss Sandra, Amanda Maddalozzo as Mayor Matilda Hyde, Tyler Skibinski as Dean Hyde and Joel Shoemaker as Sheriff Earl. The cast of 36 brings a fun comedic rock’n’roll show to the stage. Under the direction of theatre veteran Mary Ellen Ulrich, choreographer Aliesha Graves, and musical director Alison Meuth.
Mary Ellen says this is an awesome cast and she cannot wait for an audience to share the rock’n’roll songs of the 50s. “All Shook Up” runs from June 24 through July 2 at 7:30pm each evening. Tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for students (18 and under).
Patrons are encouraged to come early and have dinner with the food vendor of the production, The Fieldhouse. Young’s Popcorn Heaven will also be on site with gourmet popcorn available to purchase before the show and during intermission as well as drinks from The Broadway Deli & Lounge.
A summer-long raffle is also taking place with prizes awarded every evening – during “All Shook Up” patrons could win Jukebox Bluetooth speakers. At the conclusion of the run, all tickets purchased during the run of “All Shook Up” are entered into a drawing for an electric guitar and handmade amp. And at the end of the season, all raffle tickets purchased over the summer are pooled into a drawing for a trip for two to London taking place in December.
