Corn Stock for Kids is excited to present Back to Your Best: A Vocal and Monologue Audition Workshop, which will take place Saturday, June 5th from 10:00am to 12:30pm at the Theatre Center for students ages 7 – 18. Tickets are $10.00 per student and a student can sign up to audition with both a vocal piece and a monologue. To register today, click here.
Once a student has registered, they will receive an emailed confirmation will have a link to for you to sign up for your individual audition time slot. Each audition slot, whether it is a vocal audition or monologue audition, will be allotted 15 minutes, to allow proper sanitizing and to maintain distancing between students. With upcoming auditions for our Corn Stock for Kids fall production of Peter Pan: The British Musical, this workshop is the perfect opportunity for any student interested in being in the show, plus – Director, Mary Keltner is one of the panelists!
Chair of the Corn Stock for Kids Committee, Sydney Abdnour, says “The mission of Corn Stock for Kids is to provide educational and rewarding experiences for young people in all aspects of theatre. The Corn Stock for Kids Summer Workshop, Back to Your Best, will provide students aged 7-18 the opportunity to prepare a vocal and/or monologue selection of their choice and receive feedback on their performance from some of Peoria’s finest talent. Our panelists come from a variety of backgrounds, including community theatre, musical bands, and even professional theatre. Students can expect to receive incredible insight tailored to their individual performance, which can help them for upcoming shows and auditions as we transition back into the world of live theatre. For students interested in the vocal audition segment, we ask that you please memorize your piece and make sure to bring in a copy of your music for the accompanist, which is provided or bring a pre-recorded track on a phone to play through a wireless speaker. You will perform for our panel like it is a real audition. You will be given feedback on song choice, ideas on how to cut down songs that may be a tad too long, and tips to improve the way you present yourself with that piece. Your accompanist will be Molly Sloter.
For students interested in the monologue audition segment we ask that you please have your monologue memorized and keep it under 3 minutes. You will perform for our panel like it is a real audition. You will be given feedback on your monologue choice, ideas on how to cut down pieces that may be a tad too long, and tips to improve the way you present yourself with that piece.
Corn Stock will be following COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of the students, panelists, and parents including wearing masks, encouraging hand sanitizing and washing of hands frequently, temperature checks for students who are registered, sanitizing and cleaning in between students, and if weather permits, the workshop will take place directly outside the Theatre Center.
